We celebrated national period day in Nyamiyaga in Kamonyi district.Where we talked more about menstrual hygiene management and the issue of teenage pregnancies. We ended our day by distributing sanitary pads to young girls who attended this occasion.
African union has recognized our work by selecting dukataze online platform as one of 2019 top 40 digital education innovation in Africa.
African youth indeed have answers to the problems that are being faced by Africans.We were happy that Dukataze online platform has well represented Rwanda , as a unique digital youth friendly solution of teenage pregnancy in Rwanda.
Our founding CEO Amina Umuhoza has been one of the panelists at Africa union Education innovation expo that took place in Gaborone-Botswana 2019. The theme of the day was entitled as "Expanding out-of-school girls horizons through digital transformation”.
We were extremely excited to interact with students at Dove global prep, where they were confident enough to share their views on the root causes of teenage pregnancies and what could be done to end it.The students had enough time to learn more about dukataze program as one of the solutions of teenage pregnancy in Rwandan girls .
We had an amazing presentation with kepler students where we have clearly explained to them what dukataze program is all about and how they can join this fight of ending teenage pregnancies in Rwanda, through empowering young women, mentally, socially and economically. Special thank to Kepler Kigali campus for inviting us.
With the topic entitled as " The role of teen mums in fighting teenage pregnancies" we had an amazing talk at Gacuriro, where we brought together local leaders, former prostitutes, teen mums , members of Icyerekezo group and other participants , with an aim of identifying together how a teen mum can take a lead in ensuring that her fellow girl, will never experience what she went through. We thank Cladho for supporting this event.
Today we have gathered youth in interactive discussions on the role of the youth in fighting teenage pregnancies. We were very glad to have students from ALU, Akilah institute, University of Rwanda and AUCA university.
We are glad that our work has been featured in the opening video of youth conneckt Africa summit 2019 , the biggest gathering of youth on the continent, bringing together over 4, 500 delegates, including policymakers, business minds, young innovators and influencers.
